I had been home a few days back. When we left home it started raining and mom and dad asked us to wait since Cherith was with us. We left as soon the rain stopped but it was chilly all the way..
I covered him with a jacket and my stole and held him closely so he would not feel cold but after halfway hubby asked me to take a rick since Cherith had slept and it was getting difficult to hold him firm. I'll take 20 rupees extra said the rickshaw fellow. "Obviously will take advantage of the situation" I thought and sat in with Cherith.
"Baccha bheeg gaya kya?" he asked after a few seconds. "Nahi I said"
"So gaya?" he asked again "Why cant he just ride" I thought and kept my phone closer
"Mere paas ek bedsheet hai, aap leke bacche ko odha lo, thand nahi lagega"
This gesture was totally unexpected of him but I obliged and once I put it on Cherith, he slept peacefully.
The rickshaw fellow spoke all the way telling me about his family that he had 3 girls and a boy and that he had prayed for a boy all along. "Par ek hoke bhi ladka itna badmaash hai, meri kamai sab paani mein, padhai nahi karta. Abhi sochta hu allah mujhe aur do ladki deta toh acha hota"
We reached a few minutes later and hubby paid him and I thanked him for the blanket and he said "Bacche ke liye diya, thank you nako"
I learned not to be judgmental of people so quickly. After all, I misjudged him when he asked for extra money. He too had a family and earning for them was not wrong. Also I appreciated what he said about girls. So many people still long to have male children and ignore the importance of girl children but its good to know that girls have the ability to change people's opinions by means of their deeds.
I was somehow very happy, things like these have happened with sandy where strangers have helped her but with me its rare... This incident is a sweet memory now. However, strange but true that god has someone waiting to help you when you most need it.
Now sit back and recollect any such incident where someone completely strange has come up and helped you in a way that it has become a memory for life. The objective of this one was to take you back in time and make you smile....
